Robbie Meyer, winemaker at Peirson-Meyer, is a Georgia native with an early interest in wine and food which led him to a UC Davis degree in Enology. His previous work at wineries such as Peter Michael Winery and Lewis Cellars fueled the interest to create his own wine project.
Alan Peirson, the viticultural manager with a 20 year history at Peter Michael, has always had an intense interest in food, wine and design. Alan is also a sculptor. The 2015 Maquette – "maquette" is the name given to a small three dimensional model made for a larger scale sculpture – the minor to the Cabernet. Alan is also viticulturist at O'Shaugnessy Vineyards up on Napa's Howell Mountain.
In 2001, they joined forces, both with supportive friends, extensive experience and intuition began their project. Sophia's Vineyard Chardonnay, planted by Warren Dutton back in the '70s in Russian River, is a great example of a perfect collaborative of winemaker and viticulture, albeit 300 case production. This collaborative effect could be said of each Peirson-Meyer wine. |
