The 2017 Volnay Les Fremiets 1er Cru is represented by five barrels this year and was 100% de-stemmed. It has a fragrant bouquet of brambly red fruit and crushed stone; touches of incense and iris come through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannin and very expressive of its terroir, building in intensity toward a sustained and convincing finish. Superb.
