From vintner Luigi Ananìa, the La Torre 2018 Brunello di Montalcino offers a good sense of volume and richness without ever feeling too heavy. The wine maintains etched lines over a lean-bodied approach and dry tannins. There is dried cherry, grilled earth, blue flower and soft earth. Pretty mineral nuances follow suit. Fruit is sourced from across 4.9 hectares of vines at 420 meters in elevation. Some 14,000 bottles were made.

A blend of savory herbs, black tea leaves and flowery underbrush defines the slightly muted bouquet of the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino. It’s soft-textured, with a supple wave of ripe red fruits and sweet spice contrasted by hints of sour citrus. A coating of fine tannins is left to resonate, as hints of cranberry and violet inner florals slowly taper off. There’s a good amount of fruit and acidity to balance the structure of the 2018, yet I’d recommend waiting for this to evolve more aromatically.
