Located in the Aconcagua Valley 40 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean, the stunning views from Seña's spectacular 42-hectare hillside vineyard are merely a first glimpse into the masterpiece Bordeaux blend known as Viña Seña. Celebrating its 25th anniversary release today, the powerful 2019 Viña Seña, produced by the visionary Eduardo Chadwick of Viña Errázuriz, is a rare, spectacular Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend that captivates leading wine critics alike and is among the most sought-after wines in the world. Boasting signature bold black and red fruit, balanced acidity and the tannic structure for longevity, this is my eighth consecutive vintage offering you what has become THE cult wine of Chile. Here is a unique opportunity to enjoy the spectacular 2019 Viña Seña, a wine James Suckling calls one of the "top icon wines that is traded around the world like Bordeaux’s first growths," for a limited time at an exceptional price.
Dear friend Eduardo Chadwick is one of the most important people of the vine in Chile – the world for that matter – facing multiple obstacles throughout his impressive career which includes restoring his family's Errázuriz estate to its former glory. Met with Eduardo for coffee a few weeks ago in Miami, of course excited for this 25th Anniversary release, he told the story when he was approached by legendary Napa vintner Robert Mondavi in the early 1990s (Mondavi's goal was to create the "Opus One of South America"), the two passionate visionaries toiled over vineyard sites for four years in search of the optimal terroir, discovering the perfect site in the Aconcagua Valley. Boasting well-drained gravel and rocky soils with clay-loam texture, the Seña vineyard was planted in 1998 to key red Bordeaux varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere. With a Mediterranean-like climate of warm, dry summers and bright sunny days yet protected by the cooling effects of the Coastal Mountains, low median temperatures at the vineyard create the perfect conditions for slow ripening of the grapes, producing wines with balanced acidity, elegance and finesse. With Mondavi's death in 2003, Eduardo Chadwick took over the project in its entirety, bringing the wine to global attention at the blind 2004 Berlin Tastings where wine experts ranked the Vina Seña above First Growths Chateaux Margaux and Lafite.
Combining its unique terroir with Eduardo Chadwick's pursuit of improved quality and perfection vintage after vintage, the Vina Seña continues to get better and better. In honor of this special 25th Anniversary Release of Vina Seña, the winery has designed a beautifully unique "25 Años" label celebrating its legacy as a pioneering wine, not only representing Chilean excellence but also honoring its place among the great wines of the world. Fans of First Growth Bordeaux and other leading red wines will want to take advantage of this for the highly rated, exceptional 2019 Viña Seña – an incredible value while it lasts. |

The 2019 Seña was produced with a Bordeaux blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Malbec, 15% Carmenere and 4% Petit Verdot with the Chilean character of the high percentage of Carmenere. Most of the volume fermented in stainless steel with some 10% in concrete vats, and the final blend matured for 22 months in French oak barrels, 80% of them new, and 10% in Stockinger vats. It's 13.5% alcohol and has good acidity and freshness, coming through as medium-bodied, elegant and balanced. This is incredibly elegant, subtle and harmonious even at this early stage. It has floral aromas, notes of orange peel, a touch of creamy sweet spices and great freshness. The palate is medium-bodied, seamless and pure, with pungent flavors and a soft texture. It's long, clean, defined and super tasty. I feel this wine is getting better and better by the vintage. The grapes were picked quite early, and that helped to contain the ripeness and seems to have been a great decision. There was also an exception in the Panquehue zone where the Seña vines are, where the summer was cooler than the average, so quite different to many other regions in Chile. 100,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2021.

Such beautiful aromas of crushed berries, currants, walnuts, allspice and nutmeg follow through to a full body with tight, ultra fine tannins that provide length and intensity. A finish of slightly dried cherries with wet earth, slate and stone. Chewy and fine-grained. A wine with soul and length. Give it time.

The 25th anniversary vintage, and an excellent showcase of the supple, nuanced fruits of this wine. Plenty of black cherry and bilberry puree, pure but layered. It has the rich depths that always delivers, where things are almost too much and yet not quite enough, still leaving you wanting more. Fragrant raspberry leaf becomes clearer as it opens in the glass, as does the saline minerality and a smoky finish, with the tannins becoming more delicate by the minute, highlighting freshness and juice. Located in the Aconguacgua foothills, following biodynamic farming. Tasted twice.
