Experience was great. Fast service and came as ordered. Discovered Ontanon 2015 Reserva at their winery in Rioja, Spain during a recent visit and was very happy to find it available at B21. Described by Bonny Doon's founder and winemaker Randall Grahm as his "pink wine of the earth," the Vin Gris de Cigare has been a rosé of great complexity and character since its first release featuring an ever changing blend of Rhone varietals. The outstanding 2020 Bonny Doon Vin Gris de Cigare Rose is primarily Grenache, with lesser amounts of Cinsault, Mourvedre, Clairette Blanche, Grenache Blanc and Vermentino, a skillfully balanced blend of fruit and acidity. Sourced from vineyards in Monterey County, Paso Robles, and Arroyo Seco, the wine is stirred on the lees after fermentaton, adding a wonderfully creamy texture. Known for pioneering the planting of Rhone varietals on California's Central Coast causing the Wine Spectator to famously dub him "The Rhone Ranger," Grahm produces a rosé that is dry and crisp, balancing fruit, spice and herb notes with tantalizing acidity. The 2020 Bonny Doon Vin Gris de Cigare Rosé is a delight, offering pale pink refreshment with stony minerality and just the right amount of fruit flavors, making it a rosé you'll want to sip again and again.

Light, shimmering orange. Fresh red berry and citrus fruit aromas are complemented by suggestions of candied rose and pungent herbs.
