The 2020 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano opens slowly in the glass as coaxing releases a bouquet of dusty rose and woodland berries lifted by a split pine note. It's fresh and vibrant for a young Boscarelli, cascading across the palate with masses of mineral-tinged red berries and savory spice. This finishes remarkably long yet with a bump of residual acidity that nicely offsets its dusty tannins. The 2020 is surprisingly approachable yet also balanced for a steady evolution.

This wine feels fiery and rustic at the first taste, its flavors of tangy cherry and singed orange peel fleshing out over time, but still encased by warm, sanguine tannins that call for a match with slow-cooked pork shoulder.
