I exclusively use B‑21 for my online wine purchases. I may check around on other sites to see pricing, but B‑21 is always at least the same price, if not less. The website is easy to use. I typically purchase cases and try to take advantage of any free shipping offers. Since I don't like to wait around the house for delivery (UPS needs to verify age), I just have it shipped to the local CVS in town. It's usually there for pickup in less than a week of purchase.

Ordering was flawless. FedEx however, first confirmed delivery for Thursday, then for Friday, and finally for Monday. So it wasn’t two day delivery, it was six. That’s not on B‑21, but FedEx and I want to make that clear. I’m very pleased with B‑21.

Described by Inside Bordeaux’s Jane Anson as “a classic example of why we love great Pauillac,” these traditionally styled selections from Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste balance rich dark fruit on a precise backbone of acidity with lush, layered tannins, some just hitting their stride and all with decades of enjoyment ahead of them, delivered in perfect provenance at an unbeatable value.

Purchased by Jean-Eugene Borie in 1978 and restored by his son Francois-Xavier over the following decades, the 58-hectare vineyard of Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste is situated in a single large block on the Pauillac hill, the steep terrain rising up to 20 meters and planted mostly to Cabernet Sauvignon in deep gravel soils that extend eight meters underground on the Left Bank of the Gironde. Crafted by winemaker Francois-Xavier with the help of his daughter Emeline, the Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blend is aged in mostly new French oak for 16 to 18 months, producing a Grand Vin that is “immediately charming and structurally polished” with “classic Cabernet-driven Pauillac character” according to the Wine Advocate’s William Kelley. At a tasting in 2021, Jane Anson of Inside Bordeaux noted the 97 pt. 2005 Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste is “just starting to really live up to expectations” and “will easily stay in this delightful holding pattern for the next few decades” while the “unmistakably Pauillac” 96 pt. 2009 Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste is “utterly gorgeous right now” and “still young," counting it among the estate’s best vintages. The 2020 Grand-Puy-Lacoste is every bit as captivating from bottle as it was from barrel. Rich and explosive to the core, the 2020 possesses tremendous energy and nuance right out of the gate. Bright acids run through a core of ripe red plum fruit, blood orange, cedar and pipe tobacco. The 2020 is an absolute stunner.

A tightly coiled Pauillac, with a blitz of iron and savory notes wrapped around a core of cassis, damson plum and black cherry. Sleek and tightly focused, with the iron note leaving a mouthwatering echo. Plenty tight through the finish, so patience is required. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2028 through 2042. 10,000 cases made.

Milk chocolate, blackcurrants, some cinnamon ,floral spice notes, cedar, touch of liquorice. Smooth and supple, lovely energy and vibrancy here, really quite high-toned and in focus, lovely precision to the details here - the tannins are firm, slightly coarse and grainy but do so well to give the structure in the mouth - really give the frame while the flavour and the acidity does the talking. I like the combination of fruit and texture and acidity, feels serious while maintaining energy, focus and drive. Lovely lightness of touch, flows along the palate, I also love the red fruit aspects - strawberry, red cherry, bright, seering, really so joyful here with acidity that lasts and lasts. But a lovely crunch and bite to the tannins overall and lovely fresh ending. Long. wide, open, generous and friendly. Finessed and refined. True signature here where they don’t push too hard, not too heavy on the extraction.

The 2020 Grand-Puy-Lacoste is excellent, offering up aromas of cassis and plums mingled with pencil shavings, violets and loamy soil framed by a touch of creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, pure and fleshy, with lively acids, powdery tannins and good depth at the core, its supple, charming style belies considerable aging potential. It's a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Merlot.
