I exclusively use B‑21 for my online wine purchases. I may check around on other sites to see pricing, but B‑21 is always at least the same price, if not less. The website is easy to use. I typically purchase cases and try to take advantage of any free shipping offers. Since I don't like to wait around the house for delivery (UPS needs to verify age), I just have it shipped to the local CVS in town. It's usually there for pickup in less than a week of purchase.

Ordering was flawless. FedEx however, first confirmed delivery for Thursday, then for Friday, and finally for Monday. So it wasn’t two day delivery, it was six. That’s not on B‑21, but FedEx and I want to make that clear. I’m very pleased with B‑21.

Described by Robert Parker himself as “one of the up-and-coming superstar estates of Châteauneuf-du-Pape” over a decade ago, Domaine Durieu is now a bona fide force in the appellation under the direction of third-generation winemaker Vincent Durieu. The 2020 Lucile Avril is a blend of mostly Grenache, the oldest vines dating from 1914, with 10% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah, planted in the Farguerol lieu-dit’s blue clay and limestone soils on a plateau just north of the town of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Vinifying the grapes separately with indigenous yeasts, Durieu aged the 2020 Lucile Avril in concrete tanks for 18 months, balancing its lush, herb- and spice-scented fruit on a framework of firm, well-integrated tannins that guarantee years of evolution.

From a 2020 vintage yielding wines with “energy and verve” according to Decanter’s Matt Walls, the 2020 is "pure, seamless, incredibly elegant, and full-bodied ... another straight-up gorgeous wine from this team that readers will love to have in their cellar," as described by Dunnuck. Smelling this great Chateauneuf is like gazing into a deep chasm. Amazing complexity with aromas ranging from black raspberries through to candied orange, but also notes of raw meat and licorice. Super-concentrated, super-structured, but also more elegant than a wine built on this monumental scale can theoretically be. Extremely long, complete finish. A cuvee of 80% grenache, 10% syrah and 10% mourvedre. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.

Lastly, and surpassing what the estate achieved in 2019, the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Lucile Avril is based on 80% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah and Mourvedre that was brought up all in concrete tanks.
