The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is darkly alluring, lifting from the glass with a bouquet of crushed violets, blackberries and smoke. Its silky textures soothe all that they touch, as ripe red and black fruits settle upon the senses. There’s an elegance here not often found within the Rosso category, as the 2020 tapers off lightly structured, leaving licorice and black currants nuances to linger.

A firm red with plenty of bark, tar and black-cherry aromas and flavors. Medium body, medium tannins and a savory finish. Some asphalt at the end. Drink now.

Made from declassified Brunello grapes in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, this Rosso is fresh and fragrant with pristine blackberry scents accompanied by a hint of chocolate. Very spicy on the attack, it features wild black fruits then a chocolatey mid-palate with a streak of raspberry coulis. Good structure and zingy freshness.
