I exclusively use B‑21 for my online wine purchases. I may check around on other sites to see pricing, but B‑21 is always at least the same price, if not less. The website is easy to use. I typically purchase cases and try to take advantage of any free shipping offers. Since I don't like to wait around the house for delivery (UPS needs to verify age), I just have it shipped to the local CVS in town. It's usually there for pickup in less than a week of purchase.

Considered the oldest estate in Bolgheri dating back to the 13^th century, the cellar of Castello di Bolgheri within the walls of the Bolgheri hamlet dates back to 1796, its owner Federico Zileri Dal Verme, the descendant of an uninterrupted line of royal family proprietorship, credited with transforming the estate since taking the reins in the 1990’s. Transitioning from growing local varieties of grapes to Bordeaux varietals, 30^th generation Zileri replanted the estate’s vineyards along Tuscany’s famed cypress-lined Viale dei Cipressi mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon along with Bordeaux varietals, releasing his family’s first Super Tuscan blend in 2004 while also selling grapes to the estate’s high profile neighbors Sassicaia and Ornellaia, both estates part of the family’s original holdings prior to being divided by inheritance. Situated in Tuscany’s coastal Bolgheri DOC, the Castello di Bolgheri vineyard boasts a calcareous soil of clay, sand and limestone with the rows of vines running perpendicular to the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea, benefiting from cooling marine breezes during the hot summer days and milder temperatures in winter and receiving full sun exposure for optimal ripening. A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot harvested by hand, the refined 2021 Castello di Bolgheri Rosso Varvara was aged for 12 months in a mix of 500 liter and 35 hectoliter oak barrels, described by James Suckling as boasting a “weighty core of dark berries with compact and fine tannins” and “already showing beautifully” according to Jeb Dunnuck critic Audrey Frick, its robust structure promising to evolve over the next decade and beyond.

The 2021 Bolgheri Rosso Varvàra shows inky black fruit and rich concentration with a hint of black olive or caper flower. This is another of the historic value wines of Bolgheri that is generous, thickly layered but also accessible. There is a hint of spice on the close that recalls black pepper and chili flake. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, with 90,000 bottles made.

Displaying a saturated magenta/purple color, the 2021 Varvara is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot. A lush cologne lifts from the glass, with notes of polished leather, blackcurrant, sour cherry, menthol, and rosewater. Full-bodied, it offers refined tannins, a rounded mouthfeel, and a well-balanced evenness through a rather long finish. It has a lot of elegance and is already showing beautifully. Drink 2024-2040.

This red is all about balance and texture, creating an ideal foil for its black currant, black cherry, licorice, rosemary and iron aromas and flavors. Refined tannins lend grip on the lingering aftertaste. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2025 through 2038. 6,000 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.
