Produced in a vintage described as “fabulous” by Antonio Galloni of Vinous, these outstanding 2021 Nickel & Nickel selections are crafted from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from single vineyards in Napa’s top AVA’s, three classically styled, age worthy Napa Cabs exhibiting rich black fruit and layers of rounded tannins, each expressing their unique vineyard origins and offered at exceptional best on the market pricing.

Formerly in charge of production of the To Kalon Reserve Cabernet at Robert Mondavi Winery, winemaker Joe Harden adjusts the aging regimen to enhance the inherent characteristics of each site, utilizing a mix of new French oak barrels for up to 18 months, the even, moderate growing season in 2021 producing low yields with intensely flavored, small berries. Outstanding balance and complexity from the beginning that showcases concentrated black fruits and purple flowers with plenty of spices and subtle yet harmonious toast and cedar aromas. Intense graphite and stony minerality, too. Full- to medium-bodied on the mid-palate with delightful acidity that gives this wonderful crunchiness. Fine-grained juicy tannins. Precisely focused wine that is colorful and sound. Beautiful length, too. Already so drinkable now but will age gracefully, especially for Atlas Peak. Try after 2027.
