I exclusively use B‑21 for my online wine purchases. I may check around on other sites to see pricing, but B‑21 is always at least the same price, if not less. The website is easy to use. I typically purchase cases and try to take advantage of any free shipping offers. Since I don't like to wait around the house for delivery (UPS needs to verify age), I just have it shipped to the local CVS in town. It's usually there for pickup in less than a week of purchase.

Sourced from a miniscule plot within the Les Pignan lieu-dit, the 2022 Le Grand Pin is the quintessential expression of the St. Theodoric profile. Notching 96-98 points from Wine Advocate's Joe Czerwinski, it's full of classic garrigue character to go with pure, old-vine Grenache fruit and seamless structure. In short, "it's going to be brilliant," as Jeb Dunnuck declares. Likewise, its stablemate, the 2022 La Guigasse from sandy soils in the eponymous lieu-dit, comes in at a full 98 points from Decanter's Matt Walls, who dubs it "a very complete wine that's hard to fault, showing whole-bunch southern Rhône winemaking at its best." There's no denying the appeal of these two paragons of world-class, traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

In certain vintages, I actually prefer this wine—from 35-year-old vines in Pignan (Nord)—to the La Guigasse. The 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Grand Pin offers up compelling aromas of rose petals, exotic dried spices, cherries and raspberries. It's full-bodied and expansive in the mouth but somehow remains light and airy in feel, finishing with a wonderfully silky texture and awesome length.

Relatively pale in the glass. Pine needles and rosemary, very much a garrigue herb inflected nose. Broad and mouthfilling, generous and juicy, with rich strawberry fruit, ending on a sandy mineral note. Well balanced despite its breadth and warmth. Luxurious, languorous style that will drink well young and old. 100% old vine Grenache grown on sand in lieu-dit Pignan, no destemming, aged for 24 months in old demi-muids. 3,200 bottles made.

The 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Le Grand Pin looks to be outstanding and brings more richness and depth than normal. Black raspberries, mulberries, sappy garrigue, pepper, and some mineral notes all shine in this beauty, which is medium to full-bodied, has a seamless mouthfeel, and enough tannic structure and acidity to benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age. It's going to be brilliant.
