We've been big fans of this cuvée for several vintages running, and there's good reason – each new release delivers consistent class and value that our savvy Burgundy audience have come to know and love from this hidden-gem domaine. On our recent visit to the domaine, Camille Juillot walked us through the wines, and the 2023 Coeres 1er Cru is once again the standout offering, a stylish representation of the Montagny appellation. Showing the rounder, plusher character of this southerly appellation, the 2023 is gorgeously inviting in its soft white peach and apricot aromas, accented by just a hint of the wine's 100% barrel fermentation. This is a genuine crowd-pleaser that also displays a lovely sense of place, with its precisely balanced palate of ripe stone fruits, pear skin, and touches of sweet flowers. A superb quality-to-price performer, not just for white Burg fans but for anyone who loves well-crafted Chardonnay.

The 2023 Montagny Les Coères 1er Cru has a composed bouquet with fresh dew-dappled green apple, Anjou pear and subtle fumé scents. The palate is fresh on the entry with a little more charm and complexity compared to the Les Grappes d'Or, crisp and tensile with a dash of white pepper on the finish. Recommended.

This full-bodied white has notes of nectarines, buttercream and some vanilla on the nose, followed by a buttery but bright palate. Pretty vanilla-cream notes at the end. Drink now.
