Founders is not too concerned with what people say their beer should taste like: The brewery's one guiding principle is to simply craft the beers its brewers want to drink. Why else would a style that recieves very little attention be Founders' flagship brew? Dirty Bastard, a strong Scotch ale that isn't quite brewed to style guidelines, has a much stronger hop flavor and bitter profile than most strong Scotch ales. You may notice these hops slightly in the aroma, but they will dominate your swallow's finish. Other flavors to note are vinous wine taste and ripe raspberry and cherry flavors. Although Dirty Bastard is too bitter to be the best example of this style, it is still quite enjoyable. Also notice this beer's gorgeous light mahogany color, another aspect of this beer that makes it a worthy departure from the norm.
