Great, as usual. I can only shop in state stores when I'm home (in PA). But I did get email from them about online wine sales (I took the B‑21 ad in a couple of months ago and showed it to them and their new (never seen before) PA online ad looked very similar to B‑21 (except the prices weren't as good).

Glenfiddich 14yr Bourbon Barrel Reserve Single Malt Scotch (375ml)
From Dufftown, Speyside, Scotland
B-21 Top Recommendation

"The closest Glenfiddich gets to producing a bourbon!" - Whisky Advocate

This is one of those can't-miss opportunities that almost any spirits fan can get behind in a big way. Not only is Glenfiddich's 14 Year Old Bourbon Barrel Reserve the ultimate category crossover star, it's also already an all-time B-21 best seller. And for a limited time, it's available at must-see pricing that makes it easy to stock the bar for the foreseeable future.

Aged in ex-bourbon casks and finished heavily charred new American oak (the classic bourbon recipe) yet classically Glenfiddich in the style of the distillate, the 14 Year takes everything up a notch. Fully textured and balanced as a properly aged single malt should be, it also boasts all the layered flavors and aromas that come from the lengthy time in the casks.

"The 14 Year Old Bourbon Barrel Reserve shows exactly why Glenfiddich is a go-to name for so many Scotch lovers – plenty of charm, plenty of nuance, and an easy-going approachability that makes it accessible for a wide audience," notes B-21 Spirits Buyer Andrew Kitz. Sure, we whiskey fans all have our preferred styles, and the best thing about the 14 Year Old Bourbon Barrel Reserve is that it fits yours, no matter what style it is.

91AK

The 14 Year Old Bourbon Barrel Reserve shows exactly why Glenfiddich is a go-to name for so many Scotch lovers – plenty of charm, plenty of nuance, and an easy-going approachability that makes it accessible for a wide audience. The vast majority of the aging takes place (obviously) in premium ex-Bourbon barrels from Kentucky, with a short finish in brand new, #4 char American oak. Thankfully, that finishing cask doesn’t impart an overt character to the whisky, so it maintains the classic ‘fiddich drinkability you’re looking for. The nose is a balanced array of sweet malts, mostly warm oatmeal dusted with brown sugar and cinnamon, which really is just the combination of the whisky itself and the barrel playing in harmony. Nice secondary notes of peach and orange marmalade, plus softer baking spices round out the aromatics. The palate is wonderfully easy-going with a texture that just glides from start to finish, giving flavors of cooked peaches, toffee, and pumpkin pie. You definitely get the bourbon character around the edges and on the finish, where baking spices and a subtle peppery flair pop out. The mid-palate is full and round as the flavors expand and then taper off in a gently fading finish. It’s a classic pop & pour Scotch that doesn’t need anything but a glass.

2015 Marguet Avize & Cramant Brut Nature Grand Cru (750ml)
Chardonnay from Champagne, France
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Tasting off the beaten path in the gently rolling hills below Reims, it's a thrilling experience to discover a smaller grower-producer of exceptional quality Champagne with limited production rarely available in the U.S. and even better when it's a terrific deal. Described as "a fast-rising star in the Montagne de Reims if not in the entire Champagne region" by the Wine Advocate, these elegant cuvees from Champagne Marguet Pere & Fils boast rich flavors and distinct minerality on a creamy, fine beaded mousse reflecting some of the region's top Grand and Premier Cru terroirs, offering an opportunity to enjoy outstanding Champagne from an under the radar grower-producer without ever stepping on a plane at a superb value price.

Based in the village of Ambonnay on the south side of the Montagne de Reims hill, Champagne Marguet Pere & Fils is a small, family-run Champagne house dating back to the 19th century, producing a range of cuvees from Premier and Grand Cru vineyards in Ambonnay and neighboring Bouzy with its oldest vines dating back to 1925. Sourced from 8.5 hectares of estate vineyards along with a few plots leased from other family members, fifth-generation Benoit Marguet trained at Champagne Mumm before assuming the role of Chef de Cave in 2005, converting the family vineyards to organic viticulture and implementing biodynamic principles including plowing by horse. Employing barrel fermentation with native yeasts and extended lees aging, Benoit adds a minimal amount of sulfur and no dosage or sugar before further lengthy aging in bottle, yielding impeccably balanced Champagnes with distinct minerality mirroring their unique vineyard origins. Described as "a wonderful introduction" to Champagne Marguet by James Suckling, the 95 pt. NV Marguet Shaman Extra Brut Grand Cru is a blend of mostly Pinot Noir from Grand Cru parcels in Ambonnay and Bouzy and the 93 pt. NV Marguet Shaman Rose Extra Brut Grand Cru JS is mostly Chardonnay blended with over a quarter reserve wines and some still Pinot Noir. Sourced from Grand Cru vineyards renowned for their exceptional Pinot Noir, the 92 pt. 2015 Marguet Brut Ambonnay Grand Cru offers "an elegant expression of both site and vintage" according to the Wine Advocate's William Kelley, while the powerful 95 pt. 2018 Marguet Ambonnay Brut Nature Grand Cru "breaks the rules in a beautiful way" according to James Suckling. A limited release of only 900 bottles, the 94 pt. 2015 Marguet Brut Avize & Cramant Grand Cru draws complexity from the rich chalky soils of its Grand Cru vineyards, and the 94 pt. 2018 Marguet Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is 100% Chardonnay from Avize, "a very original interpretation of this famous terroir" according to James Suckling. Among Marguet's single vineyard cuvees, the exceptional 2018 Marguet Le Parc Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru from 100% Chardonnay reveals a subtle minerality reflecting its origins above the village of Ambonnay bordering Krug's Clos du Mesnil and just down slope from Selosse's Le Bout du Clos lieu-dit, the unique mid-slope parcel containing deep deposits of tuffe, a chalk-heavy bedrock. From a prized and distinctive lieu-dit planted in 1970, the stunning 2018 Marguet Brut Ambonnay Grand Cru Les Crayeres is 100% Pinot Noir from the sunny, mid-slope parcel, a long-lived Champagne of great energy and depth and the 97 pt. 2018 Marguet Bouzy Brut Nature from 100% Pinot Noir boasts an "almost supernatural energy" according to James Suckling. From vines planted in 1967 on alluvial soils, the 94 pt. 2015 Marguet Brut Ambonnay La Grande Ruelle Grand Cru and the 98 pt. 2018 Marguet Brut Ambonnay La Grande Ruelle Grand Cru both from 100% Pinot Noir balance rich spiced fruit and vibrant energy "with an almost endless finish" according to James Suckling. Considered Champagne's first organic prestige cuvee, the 96 pt. 2014 Marguet Sapience Extra Brut 1er Cru is a collaborative blend with fellow biodynamic growers Benoit Lahaye, Vincent Laval and David Leclapart revealing rich depth and a "staggeringly fresh finish" according to James Suckling that will continue to evolve for another decade.

A true insider find for bubbly fans, these exceptional Champagne Marguet selections are offered in limited quantities at a fraction of the pricey prestige cuvees, all meticulously crafted to reflect their exceptional terroir and promising to reward Champagne lovers who act quickly with some seriously pleasurable drinking ahead.

Disgorged in May 2020 without dosage, Marguet's 2015 Avize & Cramant Grand Cru opens in the glass with scents of crisp orchard fruit, buttery pastry, vanilla pod and citrus oil. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and concentrated, it's vinous, with chalky structure and a long, sapid finish. Only 900 bottles were produced.

2022 Le Pupille Saffredi (750ml)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Maremma, Tuscany, Italy
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Fattoria Le Pupille's flagship Saffredi has always been a top-echelon Tuscan collectible, with multiple 100-point vintages in its track record and a consistent reputation for delivering one of the finest expressions of the coastal Tuscan terroir available. Proprietor Elisabetta Geppetti has fashioned the estate and this benchmark wine into a standard bearer for Maremma, and now that her son, Ettore, has taken the reins, the future looks brighter than ever, as is plainly clear in the newly released, highly acclaimed 2022 Saffredi.

"To my mind, the 2022 stands apart from almost every other past vintage of Saffredi. This is a new direction for the wine that we can all happily embrace." - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

The 2022 growing season offered the winemaking team plenty of opportunity to take a different course with Saffredi, and they chose wisely. The 2022 "deftly plays upon the elegance and fruity brightness of the growing season, while also harnessing its freshness and its slightly more streamlined appeal," as noted by Monica Larner in her 98-point review. Decanter also tags it with 98 points, declaring, "The 2022 Saffredi is the result of the estate's hard work and it has paid dividends ... It's a stunner. Wow!" There isn't much more we can add to that, but to say that this is a can't-miss opportunity for savvy collectors to stack the cellar high and deep with a long-haul performer at the best price in the country.

99JS 98WA 98D

This is a young wine with terrific depth and layers of fruit. It’s full-bodied with notes of eucalyptus, lavender and sage and hints of matchsticks and oranges. It’s linear and tight at the end, with an energetic finish. Very Saffredi in nature. Better than the 2021. 65% cabernet sauvignon, 25% merlot and 10% petite verdot.

99 points, James Suckling (Aug 2024)

This is one of only a handful of wines made on the Tuscan Coast that has managed to interpret the vintage in such an excellent manner. The Fattoria le Pupille 2022 Saffredi (a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot) deftly plays upon the elegance and fruity brightness of the growing season, while also harnessing its freshness and its slightly more streamlined appeal. The wine is nuanced and layered with fine details that recall wild berry, spice, blue flower and blood orange. To my mind, the 2022 stands apart from almost every other past vintage of Saffredi. This is a new direction for the wine that we can all happily embrace.

98 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate (Feb 2025)

Menthol-infused dark berry aromas open the door to an intense and juicy mouthful of precisely wrought red and black berries and cherries. Wonderful lip-smacking sapidity and finely integrated tannins complete the package. The 2022 Saffredi is the result of the estate's hard work and it has paid dividends. Elisabetta Geppetti's son, Ettore – in just his third vintage overseeing the winemaking without the experienced hand of ex-consultant Luca d'Attoma – has beautifully interpreted the vintage. He tells me that, unusually, it took the team three harvests at different times to obtain the freshness evident in the wine. It's a stunner. Wow!

2019 Domaine de Montille Aux Malconsorts 1er Cru (750ml)
Pinot Noir from Vosne-Romanee, Burgundy, France
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Boasting fresh, lively fruit and balanced acidity, these spectacular 2019 Domaine de Montille Burgundies come from a vintage that "hit the bullseye" according to critic James Suckling, offering a "rare combination of excellence and great consistency." Benefiting from our long-standing relationship with the Domaine, this part two of our exclusive Domaine de Montille offering features Burgundies from the estate's vineyards heading south from Volnay through the Cote d'Or to Saint Aubin, ranging from a value-packed entry level Red Burgundy to a vast array of exquisite Premier and Grand Cru Whites, all exceptional wines offering outstanding value, many offered in large format perfect for cellaring.

Now considered a pioneer in the region for being among the first to estate bottle his wines and craft ageworthy Burgundy with a sense of place, Hubert de Montille took over his family's estate at the age of 17 in 1947 after it had dwindled to only 2.5 hectares and set about rebuilding the domaine's holdings while establishing a stellar reputation. Taking the reins after his father's 50-year tenure, Hubert's son Etienne was among the first in the region to convert to organic and then biodynamic practices, while continuing to expand the estate with the acquisition of some of Burgundy's most highly regarded vineyards, including those of Chateau de Puligny-Montrachet in 2012. Now with 35 hectares of holdings spanning an astounding 20 separate top appellations throughout the region, Domaine de Montille's top Chardonnay parcels south of Volnay include Puligny Folatières, a premier cru with two prestigious neighbors, Leflaive and Leroy, the rock-covered Meursault Poruzots next to the famous "Les Genevrières" vineyard and Saint Aubin En Remilly, located just behind the revered Grand Cru Le Montrachet. Crediting the influence of his brother-in-law, the masterful Meursault winemaker Jean Marc Roulot, Etienne employs a restrained use of new oak for the whites depending on the specific plots, aging for up to a year on the lees and preserving the acidic backbone while crafting complex, balanced wines that will evolve over decades.

From the exceptional 2019 Bourgogne Blanc "Clos du Chateau," boasting the rich profile of Puligny Montrachet at a fraction of the price, to the magnificent 2019 Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru, an ultimate expression of refined, long-lived Chardonnay from a tiny .23 hectare parcel, and including one Red Burgundy, the bright and energetic 2019 Bourgogne Rouge, these selections from Domaine de Montille rank among the top in the region, superbly expressing each terroir with alluring freshness and elegant length. Produced in a vintage with significantly lower yields guaranteeing excess demand, now is the time to secure your allocation of these magnificent 2019 Burgundies today and look forward to enjoying them for years to come.

95WA

The 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Malconsorts has turned out brilliantly. Mingling aromas of blackberries and cassis with hints of orange rind, rose petals, licorice, sweet spices and loamy soil, it's full-bodied, ample and multidimensional, with a deep and concentrated core of fruit that largely conceals its fine structuring tannins. Concluding with a long, sapid finish, it will require a bit of patience, but in 2019, it isn't as brooding as young Malconsorts can often be.

By now you should be able to say "Aphillanthes" easily, the name is a jawbreaker but these rich CdRs are happily luscious on the tongue. I've turned you on to dozens from Daniel Boulle that you've loved, and here are a few more stunners. What aromas, rich textures and endless length in the mouth (and the cellar). Comes from an ancient vineyard and Boulle farms it the ancient way, fanatically biodynamic with an eye on the moon and a horse behind the plow. I'm indebted on this wine to my importer pal Peter Weygandt, who counts Boulle and Aphillanthes as his greatest find. Boulle is a meticulous perfectionist and in league with the bigger than life wine genius Philippe Cambie – new guys with old ways bringing fresh excitement to the Cotes du Rhone. I'm surprised that Aphillanthes prices haven't jumped accordingly ...yet.

The Syrah-dominated 2015 Côtes du Rhône Villages Cuvee du Cros is one of the few wines from this estate that’s aged in barrel. It’s showing plenty of oak, but also ample fruit and depth.

2024 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Cote du Py (750ml)

"In my mind, and according to my palate for that matter, Jean-Marc Burgaud is the don of Morgon. His wines achieve the highest levels and have an unerring propensity to repay cellaring." - Neal Martin, Vinous

Earlier this year we solidified a domaine-direct relationship with a true Beaujolais icon, and now the "first fruits" of this new relationship have just landed in stock. Dubbed "a winemaker at the peak of his powers" by William Kelley, Jean-Marc Burgaud is unquestionably among the elite in Beaujolais, and his wines are roundly coveted by fans and collectors, yet they remain some of the sharpest QPR buys in all of France.

Over the years, Jean-Marc has undergone quite the transformation in his winemaking technique, resulting in the benchmark expressions we know and love today. He's an ardent proponent of Morgon's exceptional individual terroirs, and his classic, semi-carbonic winemaking aims to express each parcel to its fullest. The highlight of the range, Burgaud's Cote du Py James is his perennial magnum opus, sourced from a parcel at the very top of the appellation's most iconic lieu-dit. "The 2022 Morgon Côte du Py James, succulent and complex, is one of the best showings for the vintage for this famous lieu-dit," notes Wine Advocate. Not as well-known but every bit as compelling is the 2022 Côte du Py Javernieres, a JS95 insider's favorite that isn't often seen in the U.S. market. We're also thrilled to present a trio of Burgaud's newly released 2024s, each one a superb expression of its Morgon terroir and a benchmark example of one the region's greatest winemaking talents.

We'll say it again – we couldn't be more thrilled with this new partnership because our direct access to Jean-Marc's cellars brings the benchmark gems to us at jaw-dropping pricing that you won't see anywhere else.

The 2024 Morgon Côte du Py has a vivid, stony bouquet with redcurrant and raspberry fruit unfolding in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins and a touch more sour cherry in the mix, especially on the piquant finish. Again, this is very promising and might become the edgiest of Burgaud's 2024s.

From one of the most undervalued AOC's in Southern France, legendary Saint Emilion winemaker Jean-Luc Thunevin and Roussillon-born grower Jean-Roger Calvet have crafted a selection of powerful blends from old vine fruit that Southern Rhone fans won't want to miss, an exciting range of delicious, age worthy reds among the Languedoc's finest values at affordable pricing perfect for mixing a case.

Hiking in the French Pyrenees past the magnificent centuries' old fortresses perched above the Roussillon plain, a chance meeting two decades ago along the Route de Cathar trail became a windfall for wine lovers, resulting in a partnership between local Cotes du Roussillon grower Jean-Roger Calvet and Bordeaux vigneron Jean-Luc Thunevin of Chateau Valandraud, the superstar Saint Emilion winemaker called "a major force in the global wine world" by the Wine Enthusiast's Roger Voss. Intrigued by the magnificent black schist soils and rugged terroir around the Roussillon village of Maury, Thunevin invested in a small parcel of vines to supplement Jean-Roger's existing vineyards in the region, crafting their first vintage in a makeshift winery in 2001 and expanding the estate to 65 hectares to produce small amounts of terroir-focused wines from sustainably farmed Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah and Carignan. A blend of 60% Mourvedre and 40% Grenache from vines averaging 30 years of age, the entry level 93 pt. 2019 Thunevin-Calvet Cotes du Roussillon Villages l'Amourette was aged 16 months in concrete vats, its rich spiced and peppery fruit balancing earthy minerality and finishing long and fresh with smooth tannins built for years of enjoyment. A blend of mostly Grenache with about a third Syrah from vines ranging from 40 to more than 100 years old, the "formidable" 94 pt 2019 Thunevin-Calvet Cotes du Roussillon Villages Hugo is "a joy to drink" according to Jeb Dunnuck, offering bright dark fruit hinting of graphite and toasted spices while the rich and muscular 2019 95 pt. Thunevin-Calvet Cotes du Roussillon Villages Divaea has a "balanced, elegant mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and outstanding length," the blend of 90% Syrah and 10% Grenache sourced from vines averaging 40 years and aged in new French oak for 18 months. Crafted from 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah ranging from 80 to 120 years old, the powerful and elegant 97 pt. 2019 Thunevin-Calvet Cotes du Roussillon Villages Les Trois Marie is the estate's top cuvee aged for 18 months in large oak foudres, layering concentrated dark fruit with impeccably balanced, plush tannins and promising another decade of pleasurable drinking ahead.

From a region remaining decidedly off the beaten track much like the Route de Cathar trail itself, Antonio Galloni of Vinous called the best of the Cotes du Roussillon reds "the world's sexiest, most inexpensive wines," these top rated 2019 Thunevin-Calvet cuvees offering a terrific introduction for newbies to the Languedoc's most exceptional terroir-expressive reds as well as a great deal for savvy Southern Rhone fans seeking delicious, age worthy blends that deliver outstanding value.

97JD

Slightly denser and more concentrated than the 2018, the 2019 Côtes Du Roussillon Villages Les Trois Marie reveals a deep ruby/plum hue as well as classic Grenache notes of candied strawberries, blueberries, peppery herbs, sagebrush, and liquid violets. Full-bodied on the palate and concentrated, it's flawlessly balanced, has supple, velvety tannins, and one heck of a great finish. It's certainly a darker, richer wine compared to the 2018. Drink this incredible Roussillon any time over the coming 15 years or so.

2017 Castello Romitorio Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta (750ml)
Sangiovese from Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Perched on a hilltop overlooking northwest Montalcino, Castello Romitorio has built a solid reputation over the last three decades for its exquisite, age worthy Brunello di Montalcino wines, producing a range of highly rated selections "able to deliver the most classic and profound expressions of Brunello from nearly every vintage," according to Vinous critic Eric Guido and certain to thrill Brunello fans and collectors at best on the market pricing.

Surrounded by dense, verdant forests with a history dating back to Roman times, the abandoned, partly renovated Castello Romitorio was purchased in 1984 by esteemed Italian artist Sandro Chia, who set about completing the manor house renovations and overhauling its vineyards with the goal of reestablishing its rich winemaking legacy. Located at altitudes ranging from 220 to 500 meters, the northwest-facing vineyards are cooler than most of Montalcino, divided into smaller one to two hectare parcels and grown in a patchwork of varied soils including galestro, clay and albarese that are vinified separately before blending, the diversity contributing balance and depth. Crafted by Sandro's son and winemaker Filippo Chia, the fresh and perfumed 94 pt. 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is a harmonious expression of terroir and vintage boasting bright fruit and vibrant acidity, described as "a total success" by Eric Guido of Vinous offering "so much value." Sourced from Romitorio's oldest plots planted in 1987 with local Sangiovese clones sourced from Biondi-Santi and Soldera, the powerful and lush 98 pt. 2015 Riserva has been crafted only 9 times in the last 40 vintages, described as "full-bodied with juicy tannins and a long, flavorful finish" by James Suckling while summed up simply as "flat out stunning" by Eric Guido. Situated on the lowest slopes of Romitorio directly in front of the Montosoli hill and considered one of the best areas of Montalcino, the Filo di Seta vineyard is named for a nearby creek (Filo de Seta translating as "thread of silk"), the rich and dense 95 pt. 2017 Filo de Seta called "one of the top wines" of the vintage by Eric Guido who describes it as "mixing the most delicate and vivid fruit with the body of a well-muscled dancer."

Boasting distinctive labels featuring Sandro's original paintings, each of these Castello Romitorio selections reflects the combined dedication and artistic perfection of Sandro and his son Filippo, all elegantly transparent and impeccably balanced Brunello wines to make room for in the cellar and enjoy over the next decade or more.

This is a very interesting wine that tests a cool growing site in a hot vintage. The Castello Romitorio 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta comes from a high-altitude vineyard with dark soils and pockets of slate and shale. It is isolated in the mountains and surrounded by thick forests and Mediterranean shrub oak. That combination of unique elements has shaped a very articulate and attuned expression that boasts vibrant fruit, smoke, spice and wet stone. The finish is sharp and especially focused with age-worthy tannins and bright acidity.

95 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate (Feb 2022)

This is a muscular 2017 with a dense palate of airy tannins that give form and composure to the young wine. It’s full and flavorful with white-truffle, cherry and orange-peel flavors at the end. Needs time to soften. Try after 2025.

95 points, James Suckling (Sep 2022)

The remarkably fresh 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta opens slowly, blossoming in the glass to offer a captivating mix of dusty rose, spicy citrus, black cherry and smoky crushed stone. This is cool-toned yet powerful in feel, fleshing out across the palate with an elegant display of mineral-tinged tart berries under an air of sweet florals, as fine tannins settle in. It turns quite savory and slightly salty through the finale, tapering off with unprecedented length, along with a staining of primary concentration offset by residual acids that keep the mouth watering. Mixing the most delicate and vivid fruit with the body of a well-muscled dancer, this leaves me very impressed. The 2017 Filo di Seta is one of the top wines of this difficult vintage.

"Jim Binns continues to expand in impressive fashion ... As always, the wines are done in a rich, unctuous style, with extended maceration and tons of depth. With the right sites, that style can be incredibly exciting." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

After achieving a staggering twenty-seven 100-point scores during his tenure with winemaker Manfred Krankl at Sine Qua Non, Jim Binns established Andremily in 2012 on the outskirts of Ventura County, just south of Santa Barbara, naming it after his two children, Andrew and Emily. Sourcing grapes from top Santa Barbara vineyards including the legendary Bien Nacido and White Hawk, Jim has also expanded his use of estate-grown fruit since his recent purchase of the 39-acre Slide Hill Vineyard in Edna Valley, a move that has had "a profound impact on the wine" according to Galloni.

"This roster delivers a comparable style [to SQN] in its density and opulence, albeit with even more chocolate-tinged richness and, somewhat paradoxically, more finesse." - Matthew Luczy, Wine Advocate

We've just received our first allocation of the 2022 reds – a "brilliant" Mourvèdre and a #11 Syrah that's "heavenly stuff" – and if they're any indication, this vintage is shaping up to be another gangusters set, with both wines coming in at 96-98 points from Jeb Dunnuck. Needless to say, fans of Andremily, or full-throttle, luxury California reds in general, will not want to miss these. And if you need to reload on previous vintages, be sure to lock in on the highly acclaimed 2021s, as well as a handful or rare magnums from 2019 and 2020!

98JD 96WA

Tasted out of bottle, the 2021 Grenache is 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and 5% Mourvèdre that saw 60% stems and 21 months in 50% new demi-muids and the balance in used barrels. It has a slightly purer and more precise perfume of ripe blackberries, ground pepper, violets, and game. This carries to a full-bodied Grenache offering flawless overall balance, a pure, cool climate, vibrant mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and an incredible finish. It needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will evolve for 15+ years.

98 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Aug 2024)

The 2021 Grenache is blended with 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre. Grapes come from the Alta Mesa Vineyard in Santa Barbara County and Andremily's new Slide Hill estate vineyard in the Edna Valley. It was vinified using 45% whole clusters and matured for around 21 months in 50% new French barriques and 600-liter demi-muids. Bottled on August 26 and tasted on October 25, its red and black fruit is densely coiled, and it takes plenty of air to reveal pure notes of black licorice, coffee beans, lilac, graphite and tobacco. The full-bodied palate is plush, ripe and spicy, with chocolate-textured tannins and fireworks of fresh acidity to call you back to the glass. Powerful yet seamless, it will continue to unfold as it matures in bottle over the next 15 years or more. 450 cases were made, which will be sold as part of a three-bottle box set for $330. A few magnums were also made, which will be sold as part of a two-bottle set with the 2021 Andremily Eaba.

2020 Clos Apalta Le Petit Clos (1.5L)
Carmenere from Apalta Vineyard, Colchagua Valley, Chile

"Bright, brooding and intense"

Georgina Hindle, Decanter

Sourced from the same vineyard as its iconic flagship cuvee, the rich 95 pt. 2020 Clos Apalta Le Petit Clos boasts fresh, vibrant dark fruit hinting of cedar and spice and soft, plush tannins on a long-lived finish, a luscious Bordeaux-inspired blend described as "one heck of a second wine" by Jeb Dunnuck expertly crafted by the Clos Apalta team for an unbeatable value price.

Commissioned by owner and Grand Marnier heiress Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, the stunning Clos Apalta winery in Santa Cruz is an architectural marvel, a spectacular seven level underground complex built into the granite hillside, its cylindrical roof surrounded by wooden slats depicting the staves of an open air barrel and the excavated rock repurposed throughout the structure from floor tiles in the gravity fed cellars to a rooftop sundial. Established in 1997 to craft a world class wine in Chile's Colchagua Valley, Clos Apalta founders Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet hired renowned French oenologist Michel Rolland to produce a uniquely Chilean blend of the indigenous Carmenere with Bordeaux varietals crafted with French winemaking expertise, garnering unanimous acclaim over the next decades including becoming the only South American wine ever to garner the coveted #1 spot on the Wine Spectator's Top 100. First crafting the second wine in 2014 as a youthful expression of the Clos Apalta terroir, winemaker Jacques Begarie sourced the 2020 Le Petit Clos from a mix of mostly younger vines planted in the granite soils of the estate's organically and biodynamically farmed El Condor vineyard, its unique microclimate in the shadow of the towering Cordillera Mountains creating optimal conditions for ripening Carmenere while maintaining its freshness and acidity. Blending 40% Carmenere, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot, Begarie aged the elegant 2020 Clos Apalta Le Petit Clos for 26 months in a mix of 53% new French oak barrels and 47% in second use French oak barrels, bottling it without filtering or fining to reveal fresh, luscious fruit hinting of peppery spice with bright acidity and outstanding length promising to age gracefully over the next decade.

Reflecting its exceptional Chilean terroir, the lush and powerful 95 pt. 2020 Clos Apalta Le Petit Clos is a delicious and enticing second wine crafted with same meticulous attention to detail as the iconic Clos Apalta at a fraction of the price, a terrific opportunity for Clos Apalta collectors and fans of top tier Chilean reds to pull the cork more often.

95JS 94V 93WA

A beautiful delivery of Petit Clos with spiced black cherries, cassis, olives and some red capsicums to the nose. Chalky tannins are densely packed on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Tight, structured and fine-grained. Very long. Drink or hold.

95 points, Zekun Shuai, James Suckling (Apr 2023)

The 2020 Blend Le Petit Clos is a mix of mostly Carménère and Cabernet Sauvignon from Apalta, Colchagua. Dark garnet red in hue. The complex nose offers plum jam, hints of sweet spice, herbs and pepper against a backdrop of cigar box, graphite and a whiff of violets. A ripe, broad, full-bodied red with precise acidity and a juicy, grippy flow, the finish is intense and complex. The 2020 vintage is notably lean compared to other vintages.

94 points, Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous (Jun 2023)

The second wine from Clos Apalta, the 2020 Le Petit Clos, was produced with the grapes from younger vines and in a different proportion than in the grand vins; it's a blend of 40% Carmenere, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot from their granite soils in the warm Apalta valley from a warm and ripe year. The wine has the lush and ripe signature, with 15% alcohol, decadent and showy, with a nose of violets and camphor, ripe berries, herbs and spices and integrated oak. It fermented with indigenous yeasts, with five to six weeks of maceration, manual punch-downs and malolactic in French oak barrels. The élevage was 26 months in 53% new oak and 47% second use oak. It has the velvety tannins from a warm vintage—fine-grained and abundant—with a long finish with a bitter twist. 77,580 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2022.

2022 Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Cote du Py James (750ml)
Gamay from Morgon, Beaujolais, France
B-21 Top Recommendation

96JS 95WA

Wonderful interplay of spicy oak with savory and blackberry aromas on the nose. Ample but beautifully integrated tannins on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Very long, firmly structured finish. From the top of the Cote du Py hill, matured in 10-year-old oak barrels. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.

96 points, Stuart Pigott, James Suckling (Mar 2024)

The 2022 Morgon Côte du Py James, succulent and complex, is one of the best showings for the vintage for this famous lieu-dit. The nose is rich with grilled blackberries, licorice, cigar box and underbrush, followed by a medium to full-bodied, well-structured palate. The wine shows the most tannins of the range, chalky in texture, though integrated nicely into the layered core. Although strong on their own, the black-fruited flavors take a back seat to deeper, complex notions of iron and licorice on the mid-palate and back end. The wine glides along the palate with finesse, never feeling chunky, culminating in a lengthy, flavorful finish of high precision.

2019 Vina Sena Sena (1.5L)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Aconcagua Valley, Chile
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Eduardo Chadwick is one of the most important people of the vine in Chile – the world for that matter – facing multiple obstacles throughout his impressive career. For nearly a decade Eduardo worked to rebuild the iconic Viña Errázuriz, restoring his family's 19th century estate to its former glory. As Eduardo was gaining ground, California's most famous man of the vine paid the country a visit in 1990. Robert Mondavi fell in love with Chile and would soon be introduced to his counterpart in the region. By 1995, the two had reached a pioneering agreement – Seña was born. For four long, grueling years the two passionate visionaries toiled over vineyard sites in search of the perfect terroir for their dream wine. This was to be Chile's icon above all others. Site was paramount.

Located in the Valle de Aconcagua, on a 42 hectare colluvial vineyard of well drained gravel, rock and loam, the Seña vineyard is planted to the perfect mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Syrah. The slightly cooler temperatures of this elevated, sloping site allow for long, slow ripening. The Seña vineyard is often harvested two weeks after its nearest neighbor. Precious few wines in the country will compete; perhaps none – after all, perfection is incredibly rare.

This is a wine above all others ever bottled in Chile. A wine which is rightly described by Neal Martin as "The peripatetic wine that goes around the world challenging and, let it be said, often defeating First Growths in blind tastings."

98WA 98JS 96JA

The 2019 Seña was produced with a Bordeaux blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Malbec, 15% Carmenere and 4% Petit Verdot with the Chilean character of the high percentage of Carmenere. Most of the volume fermented in stainless steel with some 10% in concrete vats, and the final blend matured for 22 months in French oak barrels, 80% of them new, and 10% in Stockinger vats. It's 13.5% alcohol and has good acidity and freshness, coming through as medium-bodied, elegant and balanced. This is incredibly elegant, subtle and harmonious even at this early stage. It has floral aromas, notes of orange peel, a touch of creamy sweet spices and great freshness. The palate is medium-bodied, seamless and pure, with pungent flavors and a soft texture. It's long, clean, defined and super tasty. I feel this wine is getting better and better by the vintage. The grapes were picked quite early, and that helped to contain the ripeness and seems to have been a great decision. There was also an exception in the Panquehue zone where the Seña vines are, where the summer was cooler than the average, so quite different to many other regions in Chile. 100,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2021.

98 points, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate (Issue # 256 - Aug 2021)

Such beautiful aromas of crushed berries, currants, walnuts, allspice and nutmeg follow through to a full body with tight, ultra fine tannins that provide length and intensity. A finish of slightly dried cherries with wet earth, slate and stone. Chewy and fine-grained. A wine with soul and length. Give it time.

98 points, James Suckling (Sep 2021)

The 25th anniversary vintage, and an excellent showcase of the supple, nuanced fruits of this wine. Plenty of black cherry and bilberry puree, pure but layered. It has the rich depths that always delivers, where things are almost too much and yet not quite enough, still leaving you wanting more. Fragrant raspberry leaf becomes clearer as it opens in the glass, as does the saline minerality and a smoky finish, with the tannins becoming more delicate by the minute, highlighting freshness and juice. Located in the Aconguacgua foothills, following biodynamic farming. Tasted twice.

Like it or not (we love it), the Holiday season is pretty much here, and the diligent among us are already thinking about gift lists and the like. If someone on your list (or you yourself) are a whisky fan/collector, you're in luck, because your buying just got a lot easier with this roster of outstanding single-malt Scotch collector's gems that won't break the bank.

Aberlour's 95-point 16 Year Old is a unanimous hit once again, showing all the fan-favorite depth and intensity that have made this one of the most successful single malt brands of the past decade among ardent enthusiasts. Kilchoman's limited-edition Loch Gorm is back and better than ever with the newly released 2025 version, "a complex rollercoaster of a whisky" as noted by Whisky Advocate. A "stunningly well-integrated and seamless whisky," it’s the first Loch Gorm to be aged a full ten years in Oloroso sherry butts, 20 of the 23 barrels being first-fill. From boutique bottler phenom Compass Box, Secrets of Smoke is their ode to the incredible nuance and detail of peated whisky, a special concoction that essentially takes their beloved Peat Monster blend (predominantly Caol Ila and Laphroig) to the next level.

Among hardcore single malt aficionados, Linkwood's cult status seems to be growing with each passing year, and our single-cask stunner from SMoS shows "pure, elegant, and utterly mesmerizing Linkwood character in every way" according to B-21 Spirits Buyer Andrew Kitz.  As any savvy buyer knows, when you get a shot at such "a beautifully classic, unpeated Speysider that hits every note clear as a bell," you take it. For the peat fanatics out there, few names hold a candle to Ardbeg, their 14 Year Old Unicorn's Tale takes a unique twist with a Maderia cask finish that brings head-turning opulence and depth to the distillery's famed peat-heavy profile. Finally, Highlands icon Bruichladdich is an undisputed favorite among collectors, and their 18 Year Old shot to the top of the list last year when it was ranked #2 on Whisky Advocate's Top 20 Whiskies of 2024. It's a sure bet that no fan of Highland malt will disappointed with this one.

These are just a handful of the countless thrilling options in our single malt inventory, proving once again there's never been a better time to be a lover (or a giver) of great Scotch.

94WHA #2 Top 20

The flagship of Bruichladdich’s Luxury Redefined range is packaged in a molded fiber cocoon. Distilled in 2004, this whisky includes the distillery’s first use of Islay-grown barley. It was matured on Islay, mostly in bourbon barrels but also in a combination of sauternes and port casks. Aromas of honey, vanilla, and creamed coconut are wrapped around floral flourishes, with peach, melon, guava, and ground ginger. Complex layers of gooseberry, melon, and banana mingle with butterscotch, barley sugar, honeycomb, vanilla, and cinnamon, running into a satisfying finish of ginger and oak spice with a hint of coastal saltiness.

98JD 96WA

The 2021 EABA is based on 63% Syrah, 21% Mourvèdre, 15% Grenache, and the rest Viognier and saw a slightly longer élevage, spending 31 months in 60% new oak. Exotic red and black fruits, ground pepper, violets, bouquet garni, sandalwood, and some gamey, meaty notes all emerge on the nose, and this beauty is full-bodied, has a concentrated, layered mouthfeel and incredible length. It's another incredible wine from this talented winemaker that deserves 3-4 years in the cellar and will shine over the following 15.

2022 Passing Time Walla Walla Cabernet Sauvignon (750ml)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Walla Walla, Washington State

"Passing Time is a serious contender in the fine wine scene of Washington State ... I’ll certainly keep my eye on how this project progresses." - Eric Guido, Vinous

Today's offer is a special one for our Florida family. While you may or may not have heard of Passing Time, a thrilling new player in boutique Washington Cabernet that's making huge waves in the critical press, you no doubt know the founder, legendary Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino. Working with acclaimed winemaker Chris Peterson from several of the state's most prized vineyards (including Champoux, Klipsun, and Wallula), this project is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with. Having recently tasted the entire range of 2022s ourselves, we can wholeheartedly stand behind the raft of monster scores and impressive accolades that follow these wines.

Starting off, the JD94 Red Blend is "an impressive wine at any price point but offers outstanding value" at our sub-$60 price. However, it's the appellation-specific bottlings that truly steal the show, each one a quintessential representation of its origins. The "impeccably structured and detailed" 2022 Red Mountain Cabernet is arguably the cream of the crop (but we're really just splitting hairs, as they're all so compelling). It positively "vibrates with energetic red and black fruit flavors, supported by fine-grained tannins and a lively line, finishing long and shimmery," according to Lisa Perrotti-Brown. If you after something that reminds you "a touch of Château Montrose in Saint-Estèphe," don't miss the Horse Heaven Hills Cab. This double 97-point Left Bank lookalike is perfectly poised to cruise for decades in the cellar. Finally, the double 97-point Walla Walla Cabernet draws from two iconic sites, Seven Hills and Pepper Bridge, to deliver "a rock-solid structure of firm, grainy tannins and bold freshness to match the vivacious, muscular black fruit, finishing long and fragrant."

It's rare to find a range in which each wine showcases such stunning class and sophistication in its own particular way, but Passing Time is well on the way to distinguishing itself as one of the most exciting new names in collectible Cabernet, and you'll be thrilled to have any and all of these standout performers in your cellar for decades to come, especially at our unbeatable market-best pricing.

97JD 97WI 96WE

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valley is from sites that are a touch cooler than Red Mountain, a truth that shows in its energetic red fruit and lightness of spice, characteristics complemented by compelling elements of tobacco and leather saddle. Sourced from Seven Hills and Pepper Bridge, the wine has an iron fist of broad tannins that should mellow with time and provide an intensity of structure now. The full-bodied power is balanced by underlying acidity and an uplift of velvety mouthfeel. Don’t miss out on this brilliant wine. Drink 2025-2037.

97 points, Virginie Boone, Jeb Dunnuck (Jul 2025)

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valley is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple in color, it needs a lot of swirling to bring out notes of freshly crushed blackcurrants, just-picked blackberries, and cassis, plus nuances of red roses, powdered cinnamon, and tree bark. The full-bodied palate delivers a rock-solid structure of firm, grainy tannins and bold freshness to match the vivacious, muscular black fruit, finishing long and fragrant.

Pretty aromas of violets, cedar chest drawers, thyme and intensely sweet black-and-blueberries are joined by a saline and iron note similar to tasting blood when you bite your lip. Bright acidity and silky tannins prop up full-bodied flavors like black cherries, dark roasted Indonesian coffee and dark chocolate. This is a wine to be savored over several hours with good conversation.

2019 Thunevin-Calvet Cotes du Roussillon Villages Divae (750ml)
Grenache from Côtes du Roussillon, Languedoc-Roussillon, France
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More

Slightly tighter and more reticent, the 2019 Côtes Du Roussillon Villages Divae (90% Syrah and 10% Grenache) offers lots of black cherry and blueberry fruit-like characteristics as well as white pepper, sandalwood, and violets. Hitting the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, it has a balanced, elegant mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. It's another straight-up beautiful wine from this estate.

2019 Giodo Alberelli di Giodo Nerello Mascalese (1.5L)
Nerello Mascalese from Sicily, Italy
B-21 Top Recommendation

As consulting enologist with multiple 100 pt. scores to his credit, Italy's Carlo Ferrini knows a thing or two about crafting exceptional wine, his own top-rated Brunellos described as "Montalcino's best-kept secret" by the Wine Spectator's Robert Camuto. Setting his sights on Sicily's Mount Etna, these small production selections from Ferrini's Podere Giodo hit the mark, crafted from old vines ranging up to 100 years of age to deliver exceptional depth reflecting their rich volcanic origins, two enticing wines for Mount Etna aficionados and a perfect introduction for anyone looking to explore the region's best.

After a decade of consulting with some of Sicily's most renowned estates including Tasca D'Almerita, Pietradolce and Le Casematte , winemaker Carlo Ferrini purchased some small parcels on the north-facing terraced black lava slopes of Etna, planted with extraordinary low yielding, pre-phylloxera Nerello Mascalese vines averaging 80-100 years along with a small parcel of the indigenous white Carricante, the vines "a mere" 50 years of age. Trained to the traditional low-bush goblet method (called "albarello" in Italian meaning "little tree"), the parcels are located at high altitudes from 800 to 950 meters, above the official limits of the Etna DOC (widely considered to have been drawn too low) and classified under the Sicilia denomination. Boasting lush aromatics evocative of citrus and wild herbs, the zesty 95 pt. 2021 Sicilia Carricante is an exceptional follow up to Giodo's inaugural white Etna release in 2020 described by the Wine Advocate's Monica Larner as "proof that some of the most interesting wines from Etna today are the whites." Producing only 2,500 bottles from less than a half hectare plot, Carlo aged the enticing 2021 Sicilia Carricante for about 6 months in stainless steel tanks on the lees with 10 months longer in bottle, yielding fresh energetic fruit with distinct nuances of flinty crushed stone on a mouthwatering finish. Sourced from a 1.5-hectare parcel and fermented in stainless steel, Carlo aged the 2019 Sicilia Nerello Mascalese in large oak casks for 18 months with additional time in concrete and another 12 months in bottle, yielding layered fragrant fruit and balanced acidity with a long-lasting finish. Reminiscent of a meticulously crafted Pinot Noir, the elegant 96 pt. 2019 Sicilia Nerello Mascalese boasts bright fresh red fruit hinting of spice and elegant minerality, the old vine fruit yielding a powerfully concentrated red that's ready to enjoy now "but will be great in a few years" according to critic James Suckling, available in both 750 ml. and cellar worthy magnums for collectors of Italian wines to enjoy for the next decade.

Expertly crafted to showcase their unique volcanic terroir, these exceptional top-rated Giodo Alberelli di Giodo selections from superstar winemaker Carlo Ferrini are equally intriguing for fans of Sicilian wines already familiar with Etna's alluring appeal and any Italian wine lover wanting to explore the region's best, now a terrific opportunity to mix a case at value pricing.

96WA

The Alberelli di Giodo 2019 Sicilia Nerello Mascalese is a wine true to its volcanic roots. This elegant grape variety reveals a tight embroidery of aromas with wild rose, sour cherry, white pepper and campfire ash. The tannins are polished and long, and this deftly made Nerello Mascalese is endowed with plenty of natural freshness and tart berry flavors that drive a long, nuanced finish. This is another super star bottle from winemaker Carlo Ferrini.

Ardbeg Anthology The Unicorn's Tale 14yr Single Malt Scotch (750ml)
From Ardbeg, Islay, Scotland

93WHA

Part two of this experimental trilogy brings madeira cask-matured Ardbeg into the recipe. Creamy aromas of lime zest, mandarin, banana bread, and white pepper as the peat smoke builds, adding notes of cedar and rolling tobacco. On the palate, warming citrus fruits, lime juice, apricot, peach, marble cake, spicy peat smoke, toasted peppercorns, nutmeg, cinnamon, and aniseed are all present. The smoky finish with menthol and eucalyptus really goes the distance.

2022 Passing Time Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon (750ml)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Horse Heaven Hills, Washington State

The stunning 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Horse Heaven Hills combines 87% Cabernet Sauvignon from Discovery Vineyard and some from Wallula Vineyard, both on the Columbia River, where the fruit ripens slowly. The remainder of the wine is 9% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. It’s seamless and layered in well-integrated tannin and oak, full-bodied and muscular yet refined, with wisps of tobacco, dusty earth, and dark berry that linger along a structured finish, balanced throughout. It’s youthful and exuberant and should continue to be so for another 15 years, if not more. Drink 2025-2037.

97 points, Virginie Boone, Jeb Dunnuck (Jul 2025)

This must be Horse Heaven because this Cabernet Sauvignon's crisp acidity and lively mouthfeel put some giddyup in my step. Cassis and violets fill the air with the first pour. Then, a roasted pork shoulder rubbed with brown sugar and spices kicks in. Silky tannins are on call to back flavors like tart blackberries, cacao nibs, anise and cedar.

97 points, Michael Alberty, Wine Enthusiast (Sep 2025)

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Horse Heaven Hills is a little closed and tight to start off, slowly revealing notes of boysenberries, kirsch, and fresh blackcurrants, plus suggestions of pencil shavings, wild sage, and tar. The medium to full-bodied palate is taut with crunchy black fruit flavors and great tension, textured with fine-grained tannins, finishing long and earthy. The blend is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, and 4% Cabernet Franc.

This oak-aged Morgon is still very young and needs some time in bottle to open up, but everything is there on the very well-structured medium- to full-bodied palate. Excellent energy at the long finish. Tons of savory, toasty and forest floor complexity right through the long, polished finish. From the foot of the Cote du Py site. Matured in 10-year-old barrels. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.

The 2024 Morgon La Roche (formerly Corcelette) has a perfumed rose petal-tinged bouquet with wonderful transparency. The palate is very balanced—again, quite linear in style. "Located on steep, south-facing slopes and mostly clay soils, Rasteau produces deep, concentrated wines that have distinct minerality to go with savory, chocolaty, earthy aromatics. While most drink well on release, the best can easily keep for 10-15 years. It’s worth pointing out that while the region was known in the past for making more rustic, alcoholic wines, that’s no longer the case, and the wines today show much more polish, elegance, and balance. The top wines are a match for anything coming out of the Southern Rhône Valley today."
– Jeb Dunnuck

Dunnuck designates the top seven domaines of Rasteau, La Soumade among them along with three other properites we work with. Don't miss Fleur de Confiance that Wine Advocate writer Joe Czerwinski declared "the most impressive Rasteau to have ever passed these lips."

The most impressive wine in the stable, the 2015 Rasteau Cuvee Fleur de Confiance displays some exotic spice notes (cumin?), red raspberry fruit and a rich, velvety texture. The Red Mountain's boysenberry and graphite aromas were not unexpected. The earthy, nutty, starchy note that reminded me of cassava was not, but I enjoyed it. Dark raspberry, Bosc pear, dark chocolate and pine needle tea flavors rumble over a chalky texture, supported by bright acidity and mildly grippy tannins. Serve with Yorkshire pudding to be revered in your time.

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain comes from several stellar vineyards in the appellation, including Kiona Heart of the Hill and Klipsun Vineyard, with 2% Cabernet Franc and aged in French oak, a majority new. A swelter of rich black fruit dominates, showing the richness of the region while striking a balance between ripeness and freshness, ending medium to full-bodied in style. The tannins are strong and present but don’t get in the way of a velvety mouthfeel accented in dried herb, graphite, and leather. Drink 2025-2037.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain shoots out of the glass with vibrant notes of black raspberries, Morello cherries, and wild blueberries, giving way to notes of mint tea, Sichuan pepper, pencil lead, and cardamom. 2022 Andremily Mourvedre (750ml)

98WI 97JD

Deep garnet-purple in color, the nose of the 2022 Mourvèdre is so fragrant, giving up expressive notes of juicy blackberries, plum preserves, and black raspberries, leading to an undercurrent of lavender, violets, and forest floor. The full-bodied palate has a rock-solid texture of firm, grainy tannins and beautifully balanced acidity with taut, muscular black fruit and a long, Darjeeling tea-laced finish. The 2022 Mourvèdre is composed of 89% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, and 1% Viognier, using 70% whole cluster. It was aged for 21 months in French oak barriques, 50% new. 500 cases were made.

2019 Forman Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa, California
B-21 Top Recommendation

"Ric Forman's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is shaping up to be epic. A wine of unreal precision and energy, the 2019 dazzles with its magnificent purity and class." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Ric Forman's status as a cult Napa pioneer is well-established, with a critical track record to match the best of them. His 11-acre Howell Mountain property is the source of his expertly crafted, classically styled Cabernets, which he has been turning out since 1983. Perfectly justified in resting on his laurels, Ric instead keeps knocking out the hits, as we clearly see in the stellar, 97-point 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon.

Three distinct parcels make up Forman's vineyard, and each one lends its own particular touch to the finished wine, while Forman's own traditionalist winemaking methods ensure a consistency of style and excellence that few in Napa can match. The wine's "remarkable textural intensity" is a hallmark Forman calling card, and it portends a long life in the cellar, as is the case with almost every vintage he's ever made. We just sourced a must-see parcel at unbeatable pricing, not only on the regular 750ml format, but also on large-format 1.5L magnums and 3L jeroboams. It's a can't-miss opportunity for serious Napa collectors to load up on a genuine classic from a generational winemaking talent.

97V 96JD

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich, heady wine. Even though it was just bottled, the 2019 possesses remarkable textural intensity. A whole range of floral and savory notes open as this statuesque Cabernet shows off its personality. This is an especially rich, bombastic Cabernet from Ric Forman. That is especially evident when tasted next to the 2018.

97 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Jan 2022)

Similarly hued, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley offers a classic, old school Napa Cabernet nose of darker currants, green tobacco, spring flowers, camphor, and new leather. As with the 2018, it plays in a more medium to full-bodied, elegant style, has ripe yet certainly present tannins, and a great finish. The 2019 is more accessible and open than the 2018 and should continue drinking brilliantly for another two decades if stored correctly.

This is a powerful and structured red with currants, minerals and blackberries. Full and very silky plus has firm tannins and a chewy finish. Stoney. Needs another three years to soften. A beauty.

Extremely clear and complex with dark berry, spearmint and flowers. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a long, long finish. The tannin quality in this is exceptional. Tight and beautiful. Drink or hold. Made from biodynamically grown grapes. 58% cabernet sauvignon, 15% carmenere, 15% merlot, 7% petit verdot and 5% cabernet franc. 22 months in 75% new French oak.

The 2011 Sena is a blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Carmenere, 15% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc aged in 75% new French oak barrels for 22 months. It has a bright cherry color and restrained aromas of blackberries, spices, cedar wood, tobacco and a hint of mint. The palate is a little tight and restrained, and the wine medium-bodied, with balanced concentration and good acidity. Young but accessible, it shows great elegance and balance. I like it more than the older vintages that I had the chance to taste for context. It needs to develop the bouquet and complexity that, without a doubt, will come with time in bottle. Drink 2015-2027.
